Welcome back,

Since starting this blog it's been interesting out people's thoughts on the how social media has impacted the beauty industry, and this is where I got the idea from to interview someone younger to see their views on the beauty industry.

"Hi, I'm Ellie. I am currently 15 years-old studying for my GCSEs. I am a fun and bubbly person, who loves to socialise with friends and take my dog for walks. After school, I am hoping to go to sixth form to study Criminology, Psychology and Media."

Q: Hi Ellie, thank you for agreeing to this for me; I would like to ask you a few questions based on Social Media and the Beauty industry?

A: Perfect, I'm really excited!

Q: What does social media mean to you?

A: It means a lot to me; without it, I wouldn't be able to stay in contact with anyone. I love spending time with friends and family, so without social networking sites, I wouldn't be able to catch up with them to see what's going on and organise plans.

Q: How do you use social media, and what platforms do you use?

A: I mainly use social media to talk to people, and it's a nice way for me to see what everyone is up to especially old school friends and family; who I don't get to see that often. I tend to just stick to Snapchat, Instagram and sometimes Facebook.

Q: Do you follow any beauty brands on social media?

A: I follow more popular brands who are more active on social media, such as Benefit, Mac, Morphe, Kylie Cosmetics and Jeffree Star Cosmetics; the main reason to following these is to see any updates and new products.

Q: What does the term "Social Media Influencers" mean to you?

A: I don't really watch or read anything from social media influencers anymore; especially ones on YouTube. I used to watch more influencers on YouTube when I was younger, but I have just grown out of it, and don't relate to the content as much anymore.

Q: In your opinion, how do you think social media has impacted the beauty industry?

A: Overall, I think it's had a positive impact from social media, especially for businesses as they can easily advertise their products, so more people can hear about them.

Q: Do Social Media Influencers influence your purchasing decisions?

A: Sometimes, it depends on the product and price. If it's something affordable that they are showing I am more likely to try it, but normally I just stick to the products I am used to and rely more on friends and family.

Q: Has there been a beauty brand whose marketing efforts have inspired you?

A: Probably, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, especially because of the videos he posts about his brand and but also the support he gets from other YouTubers. But it's inspiring how he's come from nothing and made a name from himself.

Q: And that is all the questions, thank you so much for all your help!

A: No worries, thanks for having me.

Overall, I found conducting this interview process so interesting from a marketing perspective but from an age difference as well. It's so different for people around Ellie's age as they have grown up with social media and not known any different. On the other hand, I have had to adjust to social media and find it interesting how this has changed over the years from a personal point of view and a marketing perspective.

Let me know your thoughts on this style blog post, it's something I might carry on doing with a range of people.
